Hello,

I am Roxanne Poggi, currently I am finishing my thesis for the Master of science in digital games at the University of Malta. My research looks into the design features of Twitch-integrated digital games, focusing on the way the GUI and mechanics communicate action possibilities to the audience, and how these features shape social interactions.

Games I’ve worked on …

Intern-al Affairs was developed as an assignment for the MSc in digital games, over the course of 3 months. During this time, I acted as one of the level designers, focusing on levels 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. I was also in charge of taking minutes during meetings. Our institute saw potential through our game and with the help of Gaming Malta, we were able to pitch at the 2025 European games night hosted by SpielFabrique. We were additionally invited to showcase our game on the Gaming Malta stand at Gamescom 2025 and Playcon Malta 2025. Throughout these events I took up the task of social media management and liaison for our team.

I worked on the game Wicc during the 2026 Global Game Jam Malta. During this I worked on developing the concept of the game with my team and acted as one of the two level designers. The section of the game shown in the video is the section I designed, I also designed the ending of the game.

Till Death Do Us Part is an interactive narrative that I wrote individually, as assignment for another unit in the MSc in digital games. We were tasked with creating a narrative that centered around the theme of community.

Documentation …

Florist Feud GDD

This game design document was part of a group assignment for the MSc in digital games. While I edited and worked on the whole document alongside my classmates, I was solely responsible for Sections 1 and 4, and Appendix A and C.

Ookibloks feature GDD

This document was part of an individual assignment for the MSc in digital games. We were tasked with writing design documents for a feature which would introduce input randomness in the game Ookibloks (Skyboy Games, 2015).

This concept document was part of a study unit where we had to develop a digital game from pitch to finished product. This was one of two pitches we presented as a group, and later evolved into Intern-al Affairs (Team DIEnosaur, ongoing development). I was independently responsible for writing and finalising this concept document.

Events I’ve participated in …

DiGRA, Malta, 2025

Between the 30th June and the 4th July, 2025, I was a volunteer at the DiGRA conference. Throughout the conference, I was assigned to a number of panels where I made sure that all presentations ran smoothly and any participants joining through Zoom had an equal opportunity to engage in the discussions.

Gamescom, Cologne, 2025

Me and a group of 6 other students, as Team DIEnosaur, were given the opportunity by Gaming Malta to showcase our game at Gamescom 2025. Throughout the convention I was in charge of the team’s social media. I was also able to discuss our game with industry professionals and get valuable insight, as well as getting to know the game development industry in Malta.

Playcon, Malta, 2025

After getting to showcase our game in Gamescom, Gaming Malta invited us back to showcase our game at Playcon Malta 2025. During this event I was again in charge of the social media and presenting the game to people visiting the stand.

Global Game Jam, Malta, 2026

This year I took part in the Global Game Jam, Malta 2026. We were a team of two designers and one developer, all doing our first game jam. In the end we tied for third in a popularity vote.

Other projects …

I am currently managing the social media platforms for Team DIEnosaur. My responsibilities include writing and creating content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch and LinkedIn. I am also in charge of publishing and engaging with the community through the platforms. The only content that was not produced by me on these platforms is the trailer which was done by our developer and the character art I used to create the posts which was done by our artist.

I produced this video from idea to publishing, as an assignment for an MSc in digital games. I wrote the script which had to include a transgressive play analysis of the chosen game, recorded the gameplay and voiceover, and edited everything together.
